Alex and Alice Herrmann Family Sub Fund continues parents’ legacy

This Family Fund honours the legacy of Alex and Alice Herrmann. Established by their son Michael and daughter Hilary, this Sub Fund supports community projects in the Lismore region, especially in the areas of health and wellbeing, animal welfare and the environment.

Michael Herrmann shared his story on why giving back to the local community is important to his family’s legacy.

“We feel that the NRCF is the perfect conduit for us to continue the legacy that our parents established during their lives.

As new arrivals they were embraced by the locals, and they became integrated into the community. My father always said he had led “a charmed life”, for which he was grateful and always happy to contribute back to the community.

Personally, we are equally grateful to the South Lismore and greater Lismore community for the opportunity to run a successful and fulfilling business for 40 years.

Even though our family has been fortunate in many ways we recognise that many in our community have not been so fortunate, through no fault of their own.

This is especially so due to the recent devastating floods that impacted the Northern Rivers – which overlays and exacerbates a myriad of other problems that people have to deal with.

By donating through the professionally run NRCF we are confident that our donation will reach worthy organisations and recipients in the present and into the future. We also feel good that we can channel support back to the communities that allowed us to have such a fortunate life.

As the wonderful Eleanor Roosevelt said, “Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give.”

For us, the NRCF is our “good deal of thought.”
