Container of Dream - Quick Response Flood Grant

The Northern Rivers Flood Relief Fund, a partnership between NRCF and Byron Community Centre, raised an incredible $1,308,655 in a matter of weeks.

This money means 103 grants (as of May 11, 2022) have reached community organisations who are imbedded, trusted and already connected on the ground in flood affected Northern Rivers.

One of those recipients is Container of Dreams.

Container of Dreams is supporting the housing crisis by building tiny houses for flood impacted home owners who have lost their homes.

Housing is an enormous, urgent and overwhelming need across our region – especially when financial support options are limited.

Many people did not continue their home flood insurance policy after the 2017 flood saw flood insurance skyrocket to $20,000 and higher.

Clare and the Container of Dreams team and volunteers deliver and assemble flatpack home kits in people’s driveways and backyards, as a temporary liveable housing solution, whilst they are rebuilding their permanent home.

The tiny homes can be relocated, so there will be a number of these tiny homes in circulation on a needs basis within flood impacted areas of the Northern Rivers.
