Addressing Social, Economic, Cultural and Educational Disadvantage
Projects that address the disadvantage in the Northern Rivers, across all areas of society.
As the NRCF's community research demonstrates, despite the advantages of many in the region, the disadvantage that exists across the Northern Rivers is present in all of our communities. A donation to these funds is a commitment to create a more supported and equitable community across the impact areas of social, economic, cultural and educational disadvantage. Help us create a Northern Rivers that thrives!

Scholarship program changes young lives
Established as the passion project of Peter and Julianne Bowen, who’ve had a long association with NRCF, the SCU-Bowen Education Scholarship supports students to overcome disadvantage and enter tertiary study through Southern Cross University.
This year three scholarships were awarded. A huge congratulations to Amy Norman who is enrolled in a Bachelor of Education, Sasha Hart who is studying a Bachelor of Art and Design and Corina who is enrolled in a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours Year).
Amy who is studying education said the scholarship was a pathway to her goal.
“This scholarship, to me, means that I can achieve my goal of becoming a teacher without the stress of my financial situation affecting my ability to access the tools I need to complete my degree,” Amy said.
“It has allowed me to access necessary equipment and encouraged me to continue to be an active member of my community.”
