Local Byron business Beach Suites began their donor journey with the NRCF several years ago and is a treasured member of the NRCF family. Known for their luxury, pet-friendly accommodation, we caught up with Helen Buckley, General Manager at Beach Suites to learn a little more about why they choose to give where they live.

Q. What is the best part about our region? Where would we find you on your downtime?
The best part of our region is the natural beauty – from the coastline to the depths of the hinterland, we are incredibly spoilt. Downtime is spent with family, going out for breakfast around the area, gardening or walking the dog along the dog friendly section of Tallow Beach.
Q. What inspired you to become a regular donor to the Northern Rivers Community Foundation?
Beach Suites chose to become a regular donor to this NRCF due to the diversity of recipients and that they encompass the entire Northern Rivers. With combined efforts we can all work towards the greater good.
Q. Our local Byron businesses have an important role in our community. What is it like owning and running a business in Byron Bay?
Conducting a business in Byron Bay is extremely rewarding, particularly as we are involved in accommodation. We welcome people from around the country and the world to experience all that surrounds us. We love to ‘spread the love’ around other businesses and in doing so, help visitors make the most of their experience while they are here.
Q. What would you say to others who have heard about NRCF, their local community foundation, and may be thinking about becoming involved?
NRCF is a progressive and socially aware Foundation that has a solid history for the work it does. The main target areas encompass our most vulnerable, providing encouragement and a ‘hand up’.
