The Birth of the Women’s Giving Circle

NRCF Women’s Giving Circle logoAn exciting new initiative has been born in the NRCF Women’s Giving Circle. Bringing together 100 women from the Northern Rivers who share a passion for equality and human rights for women and girls this exciting new collective giving initiative will help transform the communities in which we live.

We know from the research that women are disproportionately impacted when it comes to issues like homelessness, family violence and poverty. The NRCF Women’s Giving Circle is squarely focused on creating positive and practical social change for disadvantaged women in our region.

We’re looking for 100 women to join our Giving Circle as founding members, and for each of them to give $1,000 (less than $20 a week) to collectively raise $100k in the first year. Half of the money will be invested in the Northern Rivers Women’s Fund, with the other half going to capacity building grants each year to make an immediate impact.

As a member of the Giving Circle, you will have the opportunity to understand more about the issues affecting women and girls in the Northern Rivers and the community organisations working to address them. You will also get to work with a group of wonderful women with a genuine interest in philanthropy and have a say in how the grant money is distributed.

Our new Chair, Nicole Weber and CEO, Emily Berry sit at the helm of this Impact100 initiative and look forward to actively engaging with members of the Circle over the coming years to make it the most enjoyable and insightful experience possible.

To kick start the project, Nicole donated the first $1,000 at a recent NRCF event as she quoted Malala Yousafzai, “we cannot all succeed when half of us are held back.” This Giving Circle will indeed be a powerful way in our community for women to help women who are held back, inspiring and supporting them to succeed. Together we can harness the power of collective giving and we hope you will join us for what is sure to be an extremely rewarding experience.
