As we enter March and International Women’s Day fast approaches, we are reminded once again that women are a force for powerful social change. Especially when they pool their resources towards social equality.
Last years recipient of the Empowering Women and Girls Grant, funded by our incredible Women’s Giving Circle, is in full swing. and the feedback is heart warming!
Program coordinator of the winning grant, Jade Bennett said the Walking Tall Project, which is being run through Kyogle Family Support Services, is already showing signs of greater confidence in the young women being mentored.
“The young people were so excited to be involved in this program and it was amazing to see them from first meeting me to participating in the launch,” Jade said.
“They were all gathered around the food chatting by the end of the night. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the program brings.”
With that in mind our 2023 membership for NRCF’s Women’s Giving Circle is now open. A big thanks to everyone who has already pledged or renewed their membership.
This year we are inviting members to bring a friend to see what we do and how to get involved.
Our Women’s Giving Circle brings women of the Northern Rivers together and offers the opportunity to be more engaged in philanthropy locally, with a $1,000 pledge for the year, which we pool to distribute as the Empowering Women and Girls Grant.
We hold quarterly meet-ups – as we know everyone has busy lives. This includes our annual Pitch Night where the two finalist organisations pitch their project to the Giving Circle members, with the winner decided by vote. It is truly a moving night.
If you’d like to participate in the grant making process and develop a greater understanding of the challenges and needs of women and girls in our region we invite you to consider joining the Women’s Giving Circle. One-year and three-year pledges are available. To join visit our Women’s Giving Circle page or contact Lisa at engagement@nrcf.org.au or 0422 729 908.
