Iluka Emporium Creative Workshops

Annie Roberts facilitated a free workshop ‘More than a Likeness’ for participants to paint self portraits as part of the project ‘ Wellbeing, Resilience and Conservation’ funded by NRCF.

The people of Iluka and the surrounding areas in the Clarance Valley have faced several major challenges recently including bushfires, Covid-19 and major floods. A grant from the NRCF allowed Iluka Emporium Inc to run their insightful community project – Creative Workshops for Wellbeing, Resilience and Conservation.

Seven FREE workshops, seven Exhibitions and Openings, each promoted and advertised through Iluka Emporium’s website, social media and community newsletter. From basket weaving to self-portraits, life drawing to dyeing with nature, plus the publication of a fantastic book – Snapshot Of Iluka And Surrounds – the result of the photography workshop which represents all of the community members involved in the workshops.

Treasurer, Linda Anderson was thrilled with the outcome for her community “Thank you on behalf of everyone at Iluka Emporium for the grant to allow us to run free workshops for our community. It was so well received. Iluka Emporium is very proud of being able to provide this for the community. Creativity and Connection with other is helping the healing process.”
